Description
Birdsfoot trefoil (Lotus corniculatus) is a perennial legume and and modest fodder plant (productive longevity is 5 years or more). In Latvia, however, it is more commonly known as a wild plant.
Birdsfoot trefoil has high winter tolerance and it also grows well in damp areas and on the acidic soils. It is resistant to diseases and pests.
This grass is very early and blooms from May to autumn. All livestock are happy to eat it both as green grass and as canned fodder. The hay is rich in proteins and minerals.
